The business bug bit. With my sister’s blessing, I started to explore the possibility of creating a business around the cookie. I needed a brand… something with as much pizzazz as the product. My marketing hat sizzled with ideas. I researched the world of cookies. Google searches galore and romps to the local library. After hours of throwing together word combinations, the perfect name emerged… Chunk-n-Chip. That said it all!
I thought the cookies would make perfect gifts. So we created unique, rustic-style packaging to reflect the cookies natural, old-world flavor. We even whipped up a couple of new flavors.
During Christmas of 2002 we launched the newly-crafted Chunk-n-Chip gift packages, spreading the word among family, friends and colleagues. The cookies were a hit. Ditto for Christmas ‘03 and ‘04.
The word spread beyond our niche of acquaintances, and by 2004 orders were pouring in from referrals. Motivated by the buzz, I felt it was time to take it up a notch. In 2005 I set out to create unconventional cookies that were as natural as possible. I believed the simpler the recipes, the easier to digest. Simple meant using the finest natural ingredients, mixing and matching spices to infuse flavors, and mixing dough in small batches to retain that homemade taste. Nothing artificial… just quality -- in extreme.
After 6 months of brewing ideas with family and friends, we spiced up the original chocolate chip cookie and created an array of new flavors. Inspired by both nature and rich, earth colors, new packaging ideas blossomed. In the Fall of 2005 we launched the website and officially started promotions.
Today our mission is to bring sweetness and smiles to cookie lovers by offering unique treats in their most natural state, enhanced by distinctive yet simple packaging. We envision ourselves as the next household name in the cookie industry . . . Friendly, cookie luvin’ folks who’ll share a truly unique experience with our customers. Thanks sis for allowing me to share your recipe with the world and run with my dreams.
